Margaret M. Filter, 90, of 3411 Washington St., Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, Oct.?12, 2012, at Strawberry Lane Medical Center, Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral Services are noon Tuesday, Oct.?16, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Visitation will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Tuesday from 10?a.m.?until the time of services. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, is handling all arrangements.
Margaret was born July 12, 1922, in Eau Claire, to Oscar and Lillian (Girard) Wise. She married Reuben H. Filter on April 22, 1946, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Eau Claire. He preceded her in death on Oct.?9, 1985. She and her husband operated Beltone Hearing Aids in Wisconsin Rapids where she was secretary 15 years retiring in 1980.
Margaret loved family holidays, especially Christmas when she hosted 30 to 35 family members for dinner and gift exchange. She was always looking for a card game on Sundays. Margaret was past president of St. Vincent de Paul PCCW, was a member of the Rebecca 500 Card Club, served as membership chairman for American Legion Auxiliary, was a member of NAIM Club, was treasurer of TOPS for four?years and was the longest member of TOPS #737, was active in the Senior Citizens, and took part in two research studies, one in Milwaukee for Obesity Research and the other for heart valve replacement. She loved volunteering, traveling and reading.
Margaret is survived by three sons:?James Filter of Minneapolis, David (Mary) Filter of Wautoma, and Ronald (Donna) Filter of Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Debra (Roger) Anderson of Eau Claire, and Julie (Gary) Suhr of Wisconsin Rapids; seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Tracy) Filter, Nikki Filter, Theresa (Brent) Hall, Sandra (Scott) Rush, Kerre La Vake (Mark Oie), Benjamin (Amanda) Filter, and Brian Filter; 12 great grandchildren (three of which were born on her 88th birthday) and many nieces and nephews. Margaret is also survived by sister in law, Rosemary Wise of Madison, and her aunt LaVerne Baker of Chippewa Falls.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reuben; brother James Wise; sister, Mae Pedersen, mother in law Jennie Filter, brother in law and sister in law, Kenneth and Mildred Filter.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to Assumption Catholic Schools, St. Vincent de Paul Church or Autism Awareness.
